History
Indoor Kid is a variable font in beta by David Jonathan Ross specially made for comic books. Ellis Bojar, a comic book writer, editor, and publisher, requested David to make a font inspired by classic comic lettering. The variable nature of Indoor Kid makes it ideal as an all-in-one font to be used for comic dialogue.
The width of Indoor Kid is extremely flexibile to adjust to the amount of dialogue needed for a scene. The emphasis axis makes letters grow and maintain the same stroke weight, leading to easier manipulation of centering type and making line breaks within a speech bubble. Research was done on a variety of letterers Bojar admires, such as Gail Beckett and Tom Orzechowski. Ross notes that the font is still in beta, with a lowercase set of Characters in progress.
